Most times, my ""fandom moods"" fit together like "im in Big Spooky Mood now" & it's great because it has a consistent feel, you know? But ... sometimes ... they're just all over the place & I'm confused and weird because they all strike a different chord?????

rn it's Legend of Zelda, Magical Girls, and Good Omens and I just don't know what to do with that

Do you you swing back and forth through fandoms? What're your current ones?

I think my fandom moods are somewhat dictated by whatever is updating recently? I keep falling in and out of Miraculous Ladybug, for example, because it'll take Netflix between six months to a year to release half a season in the U.S. and I don't really enjoy having to sporadically follow out-of-context spoilers for the original french releases.

I think the nice thing about having a mix current fandoms is it tends to give me time to stretch some conceptual AU/crossover muscles. What would Fandom A characters be like in the world-building and environment of Fandom B? It's not always intentional, but kinda fun to think about!

That's a good point I've forgotten about, how networks can dictate the release schedule of shows to the point of obscurity. I've taken for granted that I generally use streaming services like Netflix or Crunchyroll, so the pace is generally my own. And related to how Ladybug was released, it was on Nickelodeon for one season, and then the contract changed hands to Netflix for the subsequent release in North America, so it's very easy to miss out on if you were just using cable.

Adding to that confusion is that Ladybug is on track right now for 3 seasons (26 episodes each), but Netflix labels the end of a season at 13 episodes, since they only release 13 at a time after the french cable network TFOU is done airing its weekly schedule ahead of all other territories. Phew! hopefully I summarized that in a way that makes sense, sorry if you didn't need that much info. ^^;

Re:crossovers, I have the same struggles, I just don't force it to happen. An AU can just be those self-indulgent coffee shop meets next door barista one-shots, because my heart just wants to ship characters haha.

Right?? Even with streaming, I'm not super into having the season released all at once. I've been nostalgic about the pace of old-fandom lately and I think part of that also had to do with the traditional(?) weekly new episode for shows. I liked having time to digest an episode's plot and it was exciting to go to onto forums and talk about the new episode specifically. I still get that experience with CrunchyRoll since they "simulcast" seasons of shows, but for Netflix hits it's harder to share and gush about something since everyone has their own pace for watching things (or have a million shows in queue to watch).

I understand mini-marathons of shows, especially leading up to season finales where maybe the last 2 or 3 episodes would be a nice reminder of longer plot-lines. If it's all new content though, that really seems baffling to do that. :x

Wow, a whole premier and season in a single day... I looked up an interview from the creator of Summer Camp Island and it seems like they put so much love into the show but it barely got to air. I've never seen anything like that before, to my recollection.

CR is entirely anime-focused, so it's not everyone's cup of tea but I find it's nice to go through both archives of older series and to discover something new/currently airing. I was introduced to Ancient Magus Bride through CR, and I need to go back and read the manga at some point.

It's beautifully animated. Since it had a set 12 or 13 episodes, it got an anime-original ending which is why I wanted to check out the manga for some extended backstories.

If you ever want some anime recommendations I have a handful for mini-series that aren't too intimidating to jump into. I like to categorize them by genre/mood because I personally try to find a balance between serious action/dramas and super relaxing or just laugh-out-loud comedies.
