GRIS is a new Big Fav for me. Just want to scream with someone over how good it is!! The graphics are Style Goals! The sound design is synced to the gameplay!! The movement is so fluid!! The game mechanics are simple, yet gratifying!! I love reading, but it really blows my mind when stories get everything across without words!!! & I cry a lot, so take this with a grain of salt, but I cried all through this game. It's so beautiful & melancholic & cathartic ... I'll be revisiting it a lot.

Unfortunately, I don't game but I gave this a google. *heart eyes* IT'S SO PRETTY! Like wow. Those graphics should be "Style Goals". O_O I think I'm going to push this on my gaming friends, so I can enjoy vicariously. Just, wow. :D

Nice!!!! & tbh, I'm very bad at video games. I look up let's plays a lot, but this game ... gosh, it's so pretty I had to play it :'D no matter how long it takes me lol

When my friends & I went to see the Lego Movie, we got the entire room to ourselves. It was a midnight showing because college. The theater was a small disaster - seats with split seams, popcorn scattered everywhere, & good golly that bowling alley carpet! - but we had so much fun we went a bit loopy. We laughed so hard we cried. We sang along to "Everything is Awesome". We lost our minds at the twist. At the time, it felt like the funniest funnest movie to Ever Exist ... turns out half of that was from the company I kept. None of my rewatches came close to that utter enjoyment. It's good memories, though. Glad I broke my Granny Sleeping Schedule to do it lol.

"The calm before the storm" may be cliche, but it's true. When I was a kid, living by the beach, my family and I went to the boardwalks at night. There was a storm brewing. We had just enough time to walk through it all, watching the clouds churn over the water. Even with the wind and the growing waves, everything felt dead still. We watched the eye of the storm form for a long while. We cut it almost too close to get away before the rain broke. Dark skies, thunder and lighting, and so much water ... it's still a vivid memory for me. Thrilling & calming - but storms and the ocean always make me feel that way.

Now that I’ve started writing again, I’ve opened the floodgates of ideas. It’s enthusing to have so many! So many that I’d be excited to write!! But ... I need to focus on what I’m working on right now. It’s. Tough. :’D It’s reassuring, actually. All those years I avoided writing, I had convinced myself it was because my ideas were dumb or I wasn’t good enough to make them work. Coming back to it? I’m so excited to write! To work on projects!! This is the wonder I’ve been missing!!! The joy of creating!!!! I’m so much happier, now that I've gotten over that hurdle of insecurity.

It's snowing now & that always brings a sense of calm ... & a memory of an epic snowball fight! ( Disclaimer: epic may be due to being a plucky kid with a big imagination, lol. ) My childhood home had no snow, but it did have a little pop-up fair for winter. The Sawdust Festival. Out in the woods, on a long stretch of road, there would be a ramshackle stacks of wooden shacks with a faded, painted fence. They had merchant stalls, food vendors, and a stage - all for local creators, volunteers. My family visited it every year.

That year, I finally got the courage to go in the snowbox ( some mix between a sandbox & a greenhouse. It was man-made, closest I ever got to snow before we moved to the mountains. It was a bit magical ... still is. ) Some kids built snowmen, some snow angels, and some started snowball fights. I was making a sad little snowman when I overheard some bullies deciding I'd be the perfect target - and, in a fit of 12 year old spite, I decided that they wouldn't take me down without a fight!! The bullies got most of the kids in the snowbox against me, alone, but I dodged & fired back & pulled little action hero stunts. I was the last kid standing! Took them all down! Triumph!! Lol, it was one of the few times I felt truly epic ... still got a mean snowball fight streak ;P

Going through my yearly cleaning & realizing that 90% of the books I keep are monster romances. Not really embarrassed about that, but I used to read a lot more variety ... then again, nobody ever rec’d monster romances (or any romances) before. Only now finding people with similar taste, only now figuring out my own tastes, & I couldn’t be more thrilled with my to-read list! 99% fantasy / monster romance!!! For now, reading through Robin McKinley (love the worlds, but the romance isn't to my taste) Grace Draven (So promising! Reading a demi-romance rn!!) Jessilyn Stweart Peaslee (lost of POV switching, but the characters are so lively!) Edith Pattou (slow going, but there’s promise ...) & hoping to check out R Lee Smith (heard it gets intense, but I’ll give her the old college try.) That’s just what I’m reading right now - pretty pleased with my growing collection of books lol.

I respect all forms of art (even the ones that hit that Uncanny Valley for me lol) but video-game design always blows my mind. I just ... don’t understand any of it! I’ve tried!! I follow game dev blogs, read their tips, watched devs working in real time ... nothing doing! Just doesn’t click for me. Pixel / rpg maker-esque games, especially. Not understanding it despite all this would be frustrating, but it just adds a little more wonder, I guess? I understand, generally, how other art forms are done ... but there’s something extra magical about video-games. Building maps? Scripting events? Planning for variations in audience participation?? Just. Blows my mind. So much respect for indie devs, tbh.
